Just for fun.
Keep this to what you think Blizzard will do, not what you WANT them to do, which properly belongs in the Suggestions forum.
I have to confess I am at a loss as to what it could be.....I feel there at least 2 rules that Blizzard would impose on themselves..
1) cannot just be an 'arch' version of an existing class, i.e. archdruid, archmage, w/e
2) must be notably different from existing playstyles
I think they would NOT do these:
a) Spellbreaker: this could be a good addition but the description "anti-caster tank or melee DPS"....well that's how Blizzard has described the DK so I don't think they would make another one right away (maybe in next xpac)
b) Banshee: this would require stomping all over lore in a more horrible way than what was done with the DK. And everyone will QQ about banshees possesing them. And if you can't posses people then it's lame.
c) mountain king: i don't see how they could make this distinct from a warrior
d) other classes that are just strong versions of existing classes or combinations of a couple of them: far seer, shadow hunter, priestess of the moon, blood mage, blademaster (even witch doctor)....
e)"druid magi": these are mentioned in lore as being the people who created the runestones on the border of Quel'Thalas. They could conceivably use the runic power mechanic but the name just doesn't work heh. (if we could come up with a good name I would say this is it)
I could go on and on...suffice to say I cannot see the future. I see arguments against everything I can come up with
any ideas?|||Personally, I think it would be dumb of them to not EVENTUALLY create a Bard(esque) class since it's been asked for since the beginning, and is also probably one of the easiest classes to impliment currently, with fist weapons already available, cloth with agi/spirit/int etc etc. already available... Plus, after WotLK which will be essentially a "Chaos-mode" why wouldn't they introduce a Chaos-breaker?|||I like vampire. I know it's similar to DK, being a melee caster type but I foresee an aversion to weapons just pummeling with fists and mind control/charm type effects with some shapeshifting.
I also think a demonhunter is a logical next step in hero classes. If we are to go by DK precedent then the Hero class should start 5 levels from level cap from 2 expansions ago (if that makes sense). So the next hero class will start at level 65 which puts him/her at the heart of Legion/demon hunting lifecycle of all characters.|||Personally, these are the ones I can see probably happening...
Bard.
Demon Hunter.
Charmer, there's another word for it, just can't really remember. They control humanoids (usually) and that's essentially their "pet".
Some kind of version of a "blood mage" or something similar, possibly even a melee class that does this... Where they use their health essentially as their rage/mana/energy/whatever. Like, requires 183 health to do this certain ability.|||that's interesting, I had thought demon hunter as well after going through the whole list, but I don't really see it as being a different playstyle....maybe that doesn't matter anymore, as long as it's not exactly the same.
They gave Metamorphosis to the warlocks but of course they could give the same skill to a demon hunter and just call it something different...err....demonic aspect or possession or something.
Maybe as you level and put points in the "Demonic Traits" tree you start to look more like a demon, getting horns and wings and stuff :D|||Harvester
Races: All
Type: Healer
Description: Grown by one of the Old Gods, The Nightmare, is a specie known for their unnoticed destruction and perception. As Druids are animal bourne and Shamans create weather and the elements of the world (earth, wind, water and air) the Harvester controls the plant life of the world. If you find one in the deserts of Silithus don't be fooled that just because you are surrounded by sand and scorpions doesn't mean the Harvester is weak. They can also mend worthless dirt into lush soil for their spells. Just because they have broken their ties with The Nightmare does not mean they can't gain his aid. Beware of their elemental fiend, The Reaper. Harvesters are known for being stealthy. Next time you are alone just be ready for a sudden attack from their spawns. If you feel you are being watched, the chances are that you are being studied by a Harvester.
Game Play: The Harvester spawns plant life to heal, damage or strengthen nearby targets. Most are stationary plants but a few move or sway within an area of the original spawn point. The Harvester uses staves, daggers, swords and maces. They use a relic called Seeds instead of a wand. They also wear cloth. All pets that are considered stationary are only effective when stationary. Meaning if you move the pets will follow but will not effect anything until you stop. This only effects benefitial turrets and damaging will stay stationary until duration is up or dies.
Beneficial:
Seedlings: Spawn 2 plants to heal anyone with in 30 yards of them. They follow the caster for 30 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
Holly Shrub: Throw seeds at the feet of your target healing them after the plant grows into a mature plant healing them over 8 seconds. 1 second cast, 2 second growing time.
Aloe Sprout: Grab the near ground causing it to germinate an aloe sprout to heal your target. 2 second cast.
Angelica: Cures interruption and silence effects on friendly targets. Instant cast and 10 second cooldown.
Harmful:
Mistletoe: Set this on the ground and whoever steps near it becomes seduced for 12 seconds. Instant cast with a 1 minute cooldown.
Kiss of the Reaper: Summon an giant elemental to do your bidding whom can also summon sprouts and shrubs.
Transplant: Raise the earth below you causing a large hole pulling your enemy target to the hole and burying it deep into the soil. Any damage will cause it to losen the dirt and freeing the individual. 1 second cast with a 30 second cooldown and a duration of 10 seconds.
Schools: Nurture (Heals), Risen (Damage), Perennial (Crowd Control + Heal)
Talents:
Nurture:
Tree of Life - Sprout a large ash tree causing all friendly targets that are under it increase healing given or healing taken by 10%. Share global cooldowns. 3 Second cast, 30 second duration, 5 minute cooldown.
Patch - Turn yourself into an uprooted flowering tree dropping peddles as you move making a path of healing. Heals 5% every 2 seconds while standing within. Does not stack. Instant cast, 10 second duration, 1 minute cooldown.
Spikes - Infect your friendly target with a poison causing them to grow spikes letting them heal the amount of damage taken. Lasts for 10 seconds or 4 attacks. Instant cast with a 2 minute cooldown.
Risen:
Androecious: Deals massive damage to your target and giving them a 1% critical strike chance and 1% spell damage taken stacking up to 5. 2.5 second cast and a 30 yard range.
Botany: When you summon your Reaper you also turn into a Reaper learning new abilities while keeping your own. A lot like Metamorphasis. All spells are immune to interruption and all crowd control effects are reduced by 50%. No armor addition but a 20% damage increase is added.
Sow: Attract all nearby airborn seeds and plant life creating a path of hidden damage every second when crossed by an enemy target it will explode and cause them to be rooted for 3 seconds. The entire path is split up per second laid. If laid all in 1 spot then you will have 5 "traps" to use. Instant cast, 5 second duration, 1 minute cooldown.
Perennial:
Animist: Drown yourself in the ground below letting you disappear for 10 seconds but regenerating 4% health and mana every second and dispelling all debuffs, making you immune to all damage and negative effects.
Book of Yggdrasil: Lifts the World Tree into the mists of this world letting all friendly targets take a 30% damage reduction and a 5% damage taken on all enemy targets. Also gives the enemy targets a chance to be stunned from any direct damage. Instant cast, 10 second duration and 5 minute cooldown.
Sylvan Blood: Increases healing of all plants currently up by 50% for 5 seconds but silences all plants for the duration. Does not silence the caster. Instant cast, 5 second duration, 2 minute cooldown.|||Starting to seem like this should be in the suggestions section, but bleh.
I also have a strong hunch that the next one might be Demon Hunter. However, that and DK's are two classes I already got absolutely sick of back in my WC3 days. And like with the appearance of DK's in WoW, I doubt the Demon Hunter will be able to get past my prejudice either to actually make me try one.
Yeah, I still don't have a DK, and I'm proud to say so.|||In one of Blizzard podcasts, they mentioned that one of the hardest parts about designing DK class was "to narrow it down from the 29 hero classes that we’ve got completed, which one we were going to go with".|||hmph. If they had 29 'complete' they should have released more than one at a time.|||Quote:

Back in 2005, before TBC was released, we had a 60 some-odd plus page thread going about the new races for the next X-Pack. It was in this forum. I suppose I'll sticky this thread and make it a master thread until such a time that speculating is no longer needed.
