Installing the game?

Hi guys. i was playing private servers since now (i know im noob...)

but now i want to buy the game, with the 3 expansions, but this is damn expensive. (145$) I already have WOTLK 3.3.5a installed, but my friend told me i cant simply buy Cataclysm and play on official because i got my Classic, Burning Crusade and WOTLK free trough downloads. Is it true? Do i have to pay 145$ dollars for the game and 3 expansions or i cant simpy buy Cataclysm 40$ to play?

reply quick please and no trolling THank!|||Quote:

Yes, Your Majesty.

All I can say is that the average price of classic WoW and its three expansions is nowhere near 145 dollars. There is a battle chest you can buy with classic WoW and BC, maybe try ebay to reduce the price. Just only buy sealed versions, of course.

And if I'm not mistaken, your friend has it wrong. He is probably confused because there is only one game client, so the Cataclysm client includes all the previous versions. But you still need a set of 4 account keys to play Cataclysm.|||Thank alot man :D And yes, here it is 145$, i live in Canada and the games are:

Battlechest: 40$

Wrath of the lich king: 60$

Cataclysm: 30$

+ tax

=141.45$

And i dont have a credit card myself and my mother is just to dumb to understand we can trust internet and she wont be hacked if we are carefull -.-

But thank for answering now, im no longer confused|||60$ for WotLK and 30$ for Cataclysm? Have you checked all the shops there?|||$145 CD is not the same as $145 US which makes it even worse lol|||This is lies,I played retail from 2006-2010 before i quit and went to private servers.Since i hate cata i play 3.3.5a private servers that are 1x rate.

Since i found out that cata launcher downloads all patches i looked for someone with a 3.3.5a folder.

All you need to do is find on google a 3.3.5a No install folder,It has everything for wow and patched to 3.3.5a.

So please don't tell him his friend is wrong hey may just mis understood what he was talkin about.|||Quote:

What the heck are you on about? Private servers don't count, they are against the ToS and therefore not to be discussed on our forums. He is not asking about a private server, he was asking whether he needed all four games in order to play Cataclysm. I answered, truthfully, that he does need them all if he wants to play up to Cataclysm (ie. level 85, Worgen/Goblin race and the new zones, ...).

If you are looking to advertise a private server here, your stay on these forums will be very short.|||Yes :P Snowieken is right, im not here to ask how to go on private server. I wanna start on official after 2 year of illegal playing on privates :P

And btw, 145CD is like 155$US (aprox.) So no, it is not worse.

And yes WOTLK is 50$ and Cata 30$, i looked every store. I was surprised to that the new expansion was cheaper xD|||Btw, i love the 2 sentences you have as signature :P|||I just checked Amazon (in the US) and it has Wrath and Cata at the same price, which makes more sense. I'd look around and see if you can find Wrath cheaper elsewhere.

Also, keep in mind that unless you have your heart set on starting a Goblin or Worgen character, you can just start with the Battle Chest. You will still be playing the same patch as everyone else, you just won't be able to level past 70 or access some of the expansion content (which again, really isn't very useful to you before 70.)

Then you can upgrade your account when you get closer to level 70, which will at least let you spread out the cost some.
