Terms

I'm a little confused. What do the terms proc, OOM, PuG, and DPS mean? DPS might mean damage per second but I saw someone saying that had 9k DPS and that seems a little high. Help?|||OOM = Out of mana

PuG = Pick-up Group (groups that are randomly via dungeon finder or battleground finder)

DPS = damage per second

(9k dps is a normal value for a decently-geared level 85)

proc = not sure what word it comes from (native speakers pls help me), but it means when an ability or effect is triggered automatically. For example, SV Hunters can get Lock&Load when someone steps in their trap; this happens automatically (with a certain chance)|||Quote:

Thanks for clarifying! But how would someone get to 9k dps? When I look at some items, the highest DPS on the weapon info is like 490. What causes you to go to 9k?|||I think proc comes from process or procedure, from the programming or logic aspect. It basically means when something that can randomly happen actually happens.

You could literally say, while flipping a coin, "I proc'd a heads!"|||Quote:

DPS is more than just your weapon. For instance, for mages, their DPS isn't calculated by merely looking at the DPS their staff does, a staff which they never use for melee swings. If you want to know the actual DPS your character does (broken down in melee DPS, ranged DPS, spell DPS) you can see that in the character information screen.|||Voila!
