Anybody else dissapointed with new races?

Anybody else? I know I am. I don't enjoy how with the goblins they went all steampunk, (which I know the goblins are,) but when I heard we were getting goblins I thought they were rich, and we were going to be starting out in a fancy zone and be all official organization-like. When I made one and realized everything looked like if I touched it grease would come off, I was kinda disappointed. Worgens are okay, but way too many people play them, so that kind of diminished the whole experience for me. What do you guys think? Next expansion I want a new hero class... Not new races.

Pardon all the likes, I've changed them. Sometimes I type a bunch of them subconsciously. Thanks for being understand and not making fun of them.

-_-|||The only reason like that everyones playing the new races like is because they're like new like.

It'll like calm down in like a few months.|||I like haven't played and of like them because like i am playing like my Rogue to like 85 and likely like will not bother with like the new races like.

WTF is with all the likes man?

Like WTF?|||I won't play them, I dislike leveling.|||Judging from the Venture Company and places like Ratchet and Booty Bay, they pretty much met my expectations ;). The gnome starting zone is pretty awesome with the steampunkness, and they get light sabers.

Worgen are pretty awesome, I'm not really bothered by the amount of people playing them. The only that that bugs me a bit is people being inconsiderate, but thats a human trait when people want something. I mean, people have literally died over Black Friday sales...|||I'm really enjoying leveling my Worgen Rogue, though that's more to do with the class than the race. I do like the looks of my Worgen and their 'mount', but I don't think the racial traits are the most effective. Still, it beats Draenei and at last Alliance have a big mean race.|||I don't like the goblin starting because the quests are too cutesy and not my generation I guess. Racecars and hosting a pool party? Yup, not for me.

However I like the Worgen storyline very much and am having fun with that.|||Quote:

If all goblins started out rich and fancy, they'd never leave their first zone.

Why else would goblins be so greedy and profit-oriented? They begin their existence in sheer poverty, and spend the rest of their lives trying to escape it.|||I know this isn't quite the same, but the goblin NPCs are really starting to get annoying, so much so that I've started turning the sound off completely when doing AH stuff.

They're nasty, anti-social little !"$ers who really would get a slap in RL - almost tempted to roll an alliance char, just to get in an Org raid and kill them.|||I rolled a worgen dudu and did the start zone. I realy liked it, realy well designed atmosphere. I bought the werewolf stuff right from the start. It feels claustrophobic and all, there is definitly a touh of horror movie :)

I also like the animations. Anything realy, i am happy with my worgen. Now if only i wouldnt have 3 lvl 80's to level ^^

3D Mouse in WoW

In my quest for one handed WoW gaming (and in my case, left handed as I have very limited use of my right hand, not enough to feel comfortable with a standard mouse or wasd), I've tried many different devices and programs to get the most out of WoW. The official mouse that came out a few years ago perked up my interest, but understandably it is made for right handed gamers. I've tried various programs with the 360 controller and even found one that worked for me for a while before it ended up crapping out. I recently tried the Logitech G13 as well once I found out the joystick was able to be used for mouse movement, but it's not meant for a faster paced, on the move game like WoW.

But now I found out about a 3D mouse that basically has 3 analog sticks that you're supposedly able to map to keys in WoW. Being left handed, it is great that both sides have a analog stick, as that means one will be accessible by my thumb. A second, I intend to make use of, is in between the right and left click buttons. I hope I'm allowed to link to this image, because it shows the setup and default layout of this mouse for WoW:

I think with the way it is setup by default, they are still (rightfully) assuming that the majority of people are going to use the majority of their spells by the keyboard. Here is what I was thinking, and this is where I thought you guys could add your thoughts and ideas about it. I'm going to be using mostly the middle and the right joystick, where in my case my left thumb would be placed. One of those, I plan to make WASD for movement. The other, I plan to make my abilities 1 2 3 4 by way of pressing up down left right. Anybody who has played console RPGs is probably familiar with using the analog directions for spells, but I realize to others it might sound strange. Now, my right hand, I think, will be able to handle pushing shift and control as a modifier, and that in conjunction with the analog I choose to use for 1 2 3 4 will access 5 6 7 8 9 0 - =. I realize this only leaves me with 12 abilities, though. Maybe I can also use alt for 4 more spells. I think I'll be able to manage with 12-16 frequently used spells. For the rest used less frequently, maybe I could use the scroll through the action bars feature?

The analog stick that would be accessed by my ring finger or my pinky finger doesn't seem like it would be that easy to use, though I suppose I won't know until I get my hand on the mouse. I figured I would map stuff like jump, map, quest log and bags there. Useful stuff that isn't that pertinent to have fast reflexes on them. What would you use it for?

Thanks for reading and (hopefully!) replying to my long winded post, I find the people here more intelligent and helpful overall, so I hope to see a few new ideas for when my new mouse arrives in a couple of days, and I hope even more it will allow me to finally play WoW comfortably!|||For you and your issues, I'm sure it's great. I have the opposite problem in that I am susceptible to repetitive motion injuries in my hands from computers (web designer and a gamer), knitting, and violin, so I'll be staying away from this mouse myself.

However, report back and let people know how it goes. There have been other people posting here who have had similar issues to yours and it would be nice to be able to point them at something that might help.

...Ren|||Interesting..|||First impressions of the mouse aren't good after a couple hours with it. Everything works, but the analogs are a bit smaller than I thought they would be. Also, WASD isn't as fluid on the analog stick as it is on the G13. It's not really playable. I'll continue to tweak the settings and try it out more for a few days, but I don't think it's a comfort thing.

Anyone want to start playing wow or make a new acct

Im looking to find someone to play with me. I Will give you all keys. all i need from you is to have a working unused gametime card. i do not want to give $130 worth of game to someone who isn't serious about playing with me. u will need to show proof of a purchased gametime card. i know it seems steep but its $130

*contact details removed*|||Either use the realm forums, the official RAF-program, or some other forum. This request is way too fishy to allow here.|||ok i don't need proof of a gametime card but i need somthing to show your willing to level a few chars and buy at least one month.|||I'm not just talking about the proof of gametime, I am actually dead serious. There are so many official ways of finding friends to play with, you don't need to pay for anyone's copy of the client and your request is fishy at best. I refuse to turn this forum into some fishy black market kind of trading hub.

Is there an equivalent to VOA from winning tol barad now? If not does blizz have any intention of implementing one? Would be nice to take a break from bg's and they horrendous honor grind.|||Baradin Hold in Tol Barad is the new VoA. However, it's rather difficult with a very strict enrage timer. Are any of the class/race under or overpowered?

Im instilling WOW as I type, and have a few questions. This will be my first MMO but Im very familiar with "Class" type games. I could talk all day about class set ups in Call of Duty, but Im a simpleton in regards to WOW. Are any of the classes or races over/underpowered? And are some races better for certain classes? Im pretty sure Im gonna select the worgen race.

If this had all ready been covered in a different thread, please just point me in that direction. Thanks.|||They all are and none of them are :)

Blizzard does an amazing job of balancing all the classes - you occasionally get one that's overpowered but they'll get nerfed pretty quickly.

Just pick whichever you feel like :)|||What Erinion said is true - today's over-powered flavour-of-the-month class will be the forum QQers of tomorrow :-)

Here's my humble suggestion: pick a race that appeals optically. You will spend quite a bit of time looking at it, so why make it hard on the eyes ...

Then, try out a few classes and see what you like. It doesn't take long to get to lvl 20 or so and by then, you should get a feel for how that class plays. If you like it, carry on. Otherwise, think about what it was that you didn't really like and see what other classes give an alternative.

Above all else, have fun !|||Every class goes through changes over time. As Waflob said, a class that gets a tweak that makes them overpowered may get another tweak that makes them underpowered, and then another that puts them in balance again. WoW isn't a static game -- things are always changing -- so just pick what you think appeals to you and stick with it. You can't really know if you like a class until you get to level 20 or so with it and have had some time to play with their abilities.

There are some racials that are arguably a tiny bit better than others for certain things, but honestly any race's special ability can help them out in some small way and in the long run, nobody's racial gives them a huge edge over anything. You're much more likely to stick with a character you find aesthetically appealing; the best racials in the world won't hold up if you can't stand the way a character looks, or runs, or sounds. For example, I love orcs, but a lot of people I know hate the way they look and thus would never stick to it. Some people hate how Taurens are so tall they can get stuck in the geometry, or hate the short races because it's comparatively harder to see what's going on, or hate humans because they are playing a fantasy game and don't want to play "themselves".

Racials should be a very minor concern. Personally I use them but pay no attention to them when I choose a race.

About to step into WOW, a few questions first.

Im a hardcore console gamer, but I think its time for a MMO. I want to start playing WOW but Im a bit timid. Ill list a few questions below, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

1. Do I need to buy Crusade, Lynch King and Cataclysm or just the regular WOW? Are the other three basically DLC? Im not not sure about how that all works.

2. When I start at lvl 1 does the game gradually tell the story of Azeroth and everything in it, or should I read up on it before I start? If so what should I read.

I tried typing "the story of world of warcraft" in youtube and all I got were funny parodies lol.

3. I have a pretty good gaming headset that will work on a PC. Will I be able to talk to others via the headset, or is it all text?

I really do appreciate the time you took to read the above, any help would be great. Also any other tips or advice for someone just starting out in WOW would awesome, thanks.|||If you look around these forums many of your questions have already been answered.

1) http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427948

2) Sorry cant answer that one, but since the cata update there is more flow and story behind quests especially in the starter zones.

3) http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427900|||1. I'd start with this thread to answer your question:

http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=426765

The short answer is, you can start with the Battle Chest (which is the original game plus the Burning Crusade expansion) and the only big thing you will be missing up to level 70 is the ability to play a Worgen or Goblin.

2. The quests tell part of the story. They tell enough to keep you involved in the plot, but there is a lot more story out there if you want it. Wowpedia's lore section has a lot of information. There are also several fiction books that cover lore that you should be able to find on Blizzard's website.

3. There is an ingame voice chat function. It's decent enough, but most people don't use it. It's decent enough, although the setup can be a bit touchy. It also has some limitations (like you have to be logged in to the game to use it.) Most people use a third party program like Ventrilo for voice chat.

There is a lot of text involved as well, with lots of active chat channels to type in.|||On (2):

There are books available and you can look at websites like Wowpedia to learn more about Warcraft lore.

But you can just start playing and gradually learn more. That's what I did, and now and then I read stuff that I want to know more about.|||Just remember when you are in combat,

Type: Up up, down down, left right, left right, select, start.

/joke

Joke aside you will run across alot of Easter eggs in the game, in places you don't expect.|||You all forgot to mention one important little detail:

When you start a new character you get a short intro to the race, with a little background and how current affairs are.|||I figured that some of this stuff had to be answered in other threads, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.|||You don't NEED to know the story or pay attention to the lore to enjoy the game, although many people do find this enjoyable. I've been playing this game for six years and loving it, even though I've never been much into the lore. I couldn't tell you much about the main characters or history or storylines.

However, reading quest test is not only educational but fun, since many of the quests are quite humorous.

needwowgold?

The business of gold trading and other types of Real Money Trading (RMT) are often frowned upon by both game developers and the player base. The idea is that gold selling would hurt the server economy and players don't have to earn the gold. This, however, is not the case.

Currently, the money sinks in this game are much more costly than anyone can make through leveling. It will cost a new player 7,500 gold to be able to ride all of their mounts. Many players, especially those who are casual, might never even get enough gold to get their epic flyer. How can you expect someone who only plays a few hours each week to spend them all doing dailies?

The server economies would be HELPED by gold trading. One of the biggest things that have happened in Wrath of the Lich King is the rise of undercutting on the Auction House. This drops many items well below what they are normally worth. For example, on a Saturday at prime time, a Scarlet Ruby might be selling for 55 gold. On a weekday early in the afternoon, the same exact item might be selling for 95 gold. This is because players often choose to undercut by large amounts in order to have their items sell fast. This devalues the work of every profession, making it harder to make gold. On smaller servers, this would have a larger effect than on the high population servers. The prices on these low population servers are normally rock bottom because it can be hard to find someone willing to buy the item. Gold trading would revitalize the low server population economies. On high population servers, the gold pool is so large that the effect would be small. The inflation would probably be offset by the amount of people who are now able to get their epic flying mounts, which would allow them to farm more effectively. This is good however, as instead of prices being low to undercutting, they will be driven by actual supply and demand.

Gold trading is fun for those involved. Those who have bought gold know how much more fun you can have by buying gold. You get to spend your time doing what you enjoy. Daily Quest areas will still be very popular, due to the fact that they reward more than just gold. The Argent Tournament gives seals for gear and pets, and the Sons of Hodir quests give rep that is used for shoulder enchants and a mammoth mount. Maybe you despise dailies and farming for materials for professions, but you absolutely love raiding. Currently, you have to do one of these things in order to supply yourself enchants, gems, and the gold for repair bills. Most guilds won't allow you to raid unless you optimize all of those, which leaves players out in the cold and sometimes causes them to quit because they're forced to do something that they don't want to do.

The other thing to keep in mind is that if Blizzard made gold trading legal and created a forum to discuss which site were actually legitimate, the number of people being disturbed by ads would drop dramatically.

*spammy link deleted*|||need a quick swift ban? You've come to the right place :)|||I would rip your flawed arguments apart one by one, but unfortunately, due to our forum rules, I'd have to do that while banning your behind to infinity and beyond. So I'll just say that gold trading does ruin the economy, for one simple reason: gold is supposed to be hard to come by.

I am a casual player myself, and you are right in one aspect: I won't spend my valuable game time doing dailies. I might never get an epic flyer, but I don't care, I'm a casual player. I play the AH, I don't spend money on silly stuff, and actually I am doing fine enough with the gold I do earn. And I have earned it, I didn't just use my credit card to come by it.

Personally I would never feel that I accomplished anything when I'm flying through the game on some dragon I bought with real life money.

But above all, it's against the ToS and therefore against our forum rules. So good riddance, go try your business somewhere else now.

EDIT: By the way, glad to see you people using original arguments for once. Oh, wait...|||Buying gold is like using Game Genie in the 8-16 bit console days. It saps any sense of accomplishment you might have had beating the game yourself without the cheats. The only difference is, when you finished the game, those same Game Genie codes would offer some fun replay value since you already accomplished beating the game. WoW really never "ends" thus you'll always feel the sense of having cheated yourself of something if you go this route.|||That, and Blizzard will ban you for doing it.|||in a minute, i will prove that 7500 gold argument to be false.

(max cost/min cost)

apprentice = 4/3.2

journeyman = 50/40

expert (flying) = 250/200

so yeah.|||I made about 4000g the last week simply by leveling from 80 to 84 (well, still 20% to go to 85). No dungeons, just questing and selling stuff I don't need at the AH.|||Quote:

max cost, if you don't have any rep points, which is highly unlikely=1105

I think you forget the epic and the faster epic flying there|||Yeah.....you left off 280% flying (5,000g) and 310% flying ($5,000g). That kinda alters your final figure a bit.|||i deliberately left them out. They are completely optional. Just plain being able to fly is so much more useful than being able to fly faster. I've heard more than one person say that the 310% vs. 280% wasn't really worth the extra 4k.

Yeah, epic flying is great, I have it on one toon. Do I want it so bad on the rest that I feel a need to buy gold? Not nearly. Do I even want it so bad that I'm going to grind away at a bunch of unfun things in the game purely for the gold? Not nearly.

How much does WOW use?

im trying to download the wow trial and understand it takes up 10 gb of space.

Im inside he launcher waiting for it to finish the last step of install and it says its about to download 10gb of data. I have a 20gb limit per month and cant waste 10gb. Is all 10 gb being downloaded from the internet or is some it it free space or being installed from the 30mb file i downloaded originally? do i have to download it all? i remember downloading wow last year and it only having to download like 1 gb|||not sure, but my wow file is 28gb|||Four words: end of the month. It is indeed a rather hefty download you will have to do, a good idea is to do it just before your counter resets. If you have a friend with the cd's, that's even better. Installing from the cd's, definately the later expansions, will save you a lot of downloading.

Missing flight points

I got my 80 hunter to Hyjal and just noticed that when I access the gryphon master, all the flight points on Kalimdor are missing except for Everlook. I just ran my 80 Druid part way through Hyjal and didn't notice any missing flight points for him. Very strange, and probably not that important because I can fly anywhere on my flying mount, but sometimes it's nice to just get a gryphon and go for lunch. Maybe it'll fix itself. Anybody heard of this?|||It might be because of how far you have progressed into Hyjal. The first time I was there, Everlook was the only option as well. See what happens after you unlck the other FP's on Hyjal.

It might also be possible that you are missing a key FP somewhere but I am not sure.|||I know my little 57 hunter was missing a few flight points I KNEW I had already picked up before Cata like Blasted Lands & EPL.|||That's because you dont have the connecting FPs. It'll only show the ones you can actually fly to, so anything that's missing a required connection will only show up after you find that missing FP.|||Quote:

That's because you dont have the connecting FPs. It'll only show the ones you can actually fly to, so anything that's missing a required connection will only show up after you find that missing FP.

I don't know which that would be. As I say, my Druid, who is also in Hyjal, has all his flight points. My Hunter is ahead of my Druid and he still doesn't have any except the 2 in Hyjal and Everlook.

Edit: I flew to Lor'danel and checked in at the flight point. Most of my Kalimdor flight points showed up (Un Goro, Rachet, Feathermoon, etc) except for Everlook and the 2 Hyjal points. They just weren't there. I flew to Everlook and checked in at the FP there and the Hyjal FPs showed up but not the others. Strange. I suppose I could go to Astranaar and see if that did anything, but It just doesn't make sense.|||Remember that they at least doubled the flight points with cata. Maybe you miss a connecting one.

I dont bother to get them all. I can fly anywhere with my 310% mount, and if I pass one, I may collect it. Maybe they will fill up over time.|||You might be missing one of the new ones in Felwood. I'm not sure where exactly the Hyjal/Everlook FPs connect now but that's an option to check out, at least. Azshara is another candidate for connections, if you're Horde at least.|||Quote:

Interview Wow Women

Hi everyone I am new to the forums here. I am a former WoW player who has started a YouTube channel. One of my near future projects is to interview 2 or 3 women that play WoW to get their perspective. Here are the requirements if you are interested:

1. Must be female, not a male playing a female toon and be 18 years of age or older.

2. Must be a current or past WoW player.

3. Prefer if you can send a photo and a shot of your character.

4. Prefer if you have mic and webcam (although I will accept just mic).

5. Please post in thread telling a bit about yourself and if you can post your pic and character here that would be great too.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Sorry, creepy requests not allowed. You're going to have to find some other forum for this. Well I do understand what you are saying but permit me to explain myself. First off I didn't intend the request to come off as creepy.

It is for YouTube so I do want to make sure that the people I am interviewing actually are women and the simple nature of YouTube would make for a much more interesting interview by webcam. I could still just do a voice interview or even a voice interview with showing a still photo, however video is best for YouTube.

What I am looking for is the female perspective on WoW inparticular and later I plan on doing other interviews for the female perspective on other games including EvE Online, City of Heroes and Star Trek Online.

However if this request is still not allowed then I will just do as you suggest and check out the Survey and Research sticky. I saw another thread on a similar subject but I didn't want to hijack it. Thanks for your input.|||Also I didn't realize I am not allowed to put my YouTube channel or blog info in the posts, sorry if I broke any forum rules with that. I would like to communicate with other gamers here and share my blog and channel with them. Does that violate any rules?|||I specifically left the thread open - and your account intact - as I was hoping for a more elaborate explanation. This forum is well frequented by spammers and other shady types, and in the years we have grown a bit weary towards all sorts of requests. I wanted to grant you the benefit of the doubt, and in a way I am glad I did.

I'll allow it, but yes, you'll have to repost this in the Survey and Research thread. A simple copy and paste will do, although you will have to retype your contact information, as I forgot to save them when I edited them out. You are free to include them again. If it's for a survey and if it is posted in the right section (ie. the Survey thread) we allow those links, just refrain from posting them in any other post you make.

I hope our initial distrust is understandable, and good luck with the research.|||No problem and actually thank you for your letting me explain myself. I actually look forward to being a member here as both my blog and channel will be specifically about gaming and I will have other, hopefully less creepy sounding, requests.|||Quote:

What I am looking for is the female perspective on WoW inparticular

It is reductionist to assume there is a single female perspective on WoW, much less games in general. Interviewing "2 or 3 women" isn't really going to shed a ton of light on it either. There's entire blogs out there devoted to the subject. You'll learn a lot more reading some of those, since a number of them are written by very intelligent and articulate women who are gamers themselves.|||Quote:

Ok I don't want to start a "lables" thread but I am not bein reductionist I just want to interview people on YouTube about the said subject.|||I can tell you that as a gamer who happens to be female, I'm not interested in this kind of an exercise, and I'll tell you why. I don't really understand people's fascination with the idea that gamers can be women, or the notion that we somehow have some unique perspective on gaming by virtue of owning two X chromosomes instead of one. One is one of our guild's main tanks. Several are hardcore raiders, several others prefer five-mans and working on achievements. Our guild's first 85 happens to be female. There are women in our guild who play every class and every race (at least Hordeside, since we're a horde guild).

In other words ... we're just gamers.

Quoted for truth. I also am tired and weary of the whole concept "female gamers".

Its my first time trying "WOW"

Hi, Ive recently just installed my world of warcraft and got a 10 day trial. Ive been playing for a few hours and the game just looks very good, But I have no clue, which expansion pack I should start with.. As I said ive never tried out WOW before. I know I need to pay for my account, But I dont know if I pay and download, or do I download for free.

Can anyone actually help me please?

thanks,|||First of all, get the main game. That will keep you entertained up to level 60, which will be for a long time yet.

Then you should get Burning Crusade, the first expansion. The best option would perhaps be to get the Battle Chest that contain both the main game and Burning Crusade together.

Having Burning Crusades will let you create Blood Elf and Draenei characters.

After that, at level 68-70 you will need Wrath of the Lich King to progress up to level 80. This will also allow you to create Death Knight characters.

Cataclysm is the final expansion and the only real reason to get it immediately is to get access to the Goblin and Worgen characters. Know this, if you DO want to play a Goblin/Worgen, you HAVE to have the previous expansions installed to install Cataclysm.|||Read this: Which game and expansion do I need?|||And to answer your second question, the game client is free, but the account is not. So, as you said, you will need to pay for your account, but then you can download the client. Also, if you buy the physical version of the game, ie. the cd's in a store, you are actually paying for your account key. You are free to give the cd's to someone else to install the game and you also don't need them for playing.

I believe the first month is free, but then of course you will have to start paying a monthly fee on top of the (once only) amount you paid for your account.

Why my account suspended

Hello guys,

My account payment method was for 6months after 6months my account need to be closed but didnt closed :S and started another 6mounth and taked my money back ı reported and chargeback my money and since ı chargeback my money my account is suspended :s why ??? because of ı chargeback for didnt buy another 6months... please admins help and tell this to Blizzard ı send a e-mail but doesnt answering... please help.|||Sorry for my bad english ı hope admins can understand. Please Help.|||I am not sure if I deciphered your post correctly, but I am pretty sure that you canceled your recurring payment and you are now wondering why your account is suspended.

In that case, isn't that exactly what you were trying to accomplish with canceling your money? Blizzard automatically adds a recurring payment with a credit card and you have to disable your account manually. If you get a chargeback, it means you didn't pay for the next 6 months (or you took that money back), then it is of course common sense that you can't log in anymore.

Or am I missing something here?

EDIT: There is an edit button which you can use for up to an hour after posting. Please don't post back-to-back, meaning, don't post replies to your own posts in a matter of minutes.|||I chargeback my money yes and ı got suspended now ı orginased my payment method again setup a new credi card and doesnt working doesnt opened my account.. what should ı doo wait for suspended maybe open or shall ı make a wepform and if ı make a wepform ı will get my account %100 ??? ( ı can login my account in battle.net that means my account not closed )|||Try contacting Blizzard.|||Ah okay, I missed the part where you organised a new payment.

Did you use a new credit card under a different name?|||Ohh really..... ı did but ı dint get any answer it ı send a mail like 2 days ago and ı read some topics in this forum and admins is working with blizzard and ı think maybe this admins can help em for what to do.|||Just to clarify, the admins of these forums do not work with Blizzard. We are a well established fansite, so we get things like beta keys to hand out, but other than that we have no affiliation whatsoever with the company. That's what the "Unofficial" means.|||ım using my mom's credi card :) ı tell a full story :)

Like 2 months ago my 6monts payment is finished and after that ı loked my account like 2-3days after and ı saw my account is open for another 6monts and blizzard got it my money allready ı send it a message and reported and get it back my money ( my money is my mom's money because she's credi card )

and after ı looked my account and it was writing Suspended ı get shoked and my mom need to delete she's credi card for security and now my mom did a new card for just a internet stuffs and ı orginased my payment method because my friend told me its just loked when you orginased your payment method it will be active again but didnt actived and now should ı wait for 1 day??? it can be open or ı do a wepform for my account

and if ı do wepform ı can get my account %100 ???|||If you actually paid again, it should be back open. If you already sent them an e-mail not too long ago, just be patient and wait for their answer. It might take a while, but they will definately send you one. If you didn't contact them yet, I suggest you do that. I don't really get what you mean with your last question... Whether there is a 100% chance you will get your account back if you fill in the webform? It is actually the same as sending an e-mail.

Waiting a day is indeed a good idea, though. When did you process your new payment? Maybe it takes a while, because the account was disactivated. In that case it'll all sort out itself then.

Fishing Old Crafty in Org as Alliance

Where's the best spot for this? At the moment I'm in the Valley of the Spirits (behind the Cooking Trainer), and I'm getting killed by a circling grunt every other minute.

Where's the best spot out of the reach of the guards?|||I remember when I did it, I used the back entrance and started fishing in that lake around the first aid trainer. That was a year ago though, I dont know if this is still a good idea after the remodeling of Org.|||Yeah go through the back entrance and find a spot in the corner at these small lakes there. If I remember properly you can actually /lie while you're fishing, so you're harder to spot. And doing it a night is a good idea.|||Back entrance? Can you tell me what section in the map of Orgrimmar that is?|||There's an entrance that takes you directly to the Valley of Spirits. That's the back entrance. Main entrance goes to Valley of Strength. Some quiet corner in Valley of Spirits might work best, but you can also fish in the lake near the fishing trainer in Valley of Honor. There's a waterfall and that corner should be far enough away from any npcs to be safe from them but you might be a bit too visible for players.|||Maybe it's helpful to make a lvl1 Orc and have a look in Orgrimmar; do some scouting.|||Quote:

Maybe it's helpful to make a lvl1 Orc and have a look in Orgrimmar; do some scouting.

Good idea, if you are on a PvP server you can easily make one on another server where you can make a Horde. Check out the Valley of Spirits, the back entrance, and where the guards are.

If you're going to fish, you will definately get guard aggro, but just don't hit back and maybe even let them kill you close to (or in) the water, so you can do a corpse run and fish from there. If you are going to scout with a Horde character, find a good spot to die. :-)

The area around there has changed since Cataclysm, but I'm pretty sure it is still the best place to try fishing as Alliance.|||Quote:

They patched that around a year ago ( or was it more ? ). You can now have horde and alliance chars on the same pvp realm.|||It also helps to turn your name plates off. Makes it harder for you to be spotted.|||Quote:

Ah, didn't know that, thanks. Never played PvP. See, so no problem at all then!

Flying mount trainer and gnomeregan reputation

Hei everyone

anyone who knows where there is a flying mount trainer which reduce cost by gnomeregan reputation?|||That should be the same riding trainer where you buy your mechastriders. Used to be between Ironforge and Kharanos, I assume it's still there.|||yes however u can't learn flying by him|||Flying is seperate, you need to go to Org for the Horde and I believe Stormwind for the Alliance. It's a 250G flat fee. This does not include flight speed training which is totall seperate and from another NPC.

Rep with Gnomer won't do anything here.|||it is not a flat fee; rep discounts apply

battle.net account recovery help

So, I quit wow about a year ago i decided i want to give to play it again, but the only thing is i forgot my email address for the battle net account that i merged with my wow account. I got a email from blizzard saying i could call billing to verify account info. Will they just ask for street address and character info, or ask for a copy of a photo id or something because my brother created the account ( i think he quit around the first week) but he is out of state so i cant get his id or anything, will they take my info instead if I explained the situation?|||http://us.blizzard.com/support/index...ategoryId=2317

If the account is registered to him, it's him they'll need to talk to and his info they need I think.

You may be better off starting on your own.|||Quote:

The only difference in info is his name the address on the account is the same as mine.|||it's the name that makes the difference.

Blizzard is very specific on that, technically it's his account and not yours even though you may play on it.|||Sharing your account is only allowed for a single minor if you are a parent or a guardian. So if you can't get your brother's ID, they probably won't be able to help you.

Epic Rogue Tanking moment.

Last night I did my first CATA Heroic, we did a random with three guild and two pickups from our server and ended up in Deadmines. Healer leaves and our guild replacement was already locked, so we dropped group and rerolled another instance and landed in Grim Batol.

During one of the encounters, I forget which as I was already half asleep, the tank dies and the healer also dies. We already had the boss down to around 60k HP and it was myself and two Locks still up. In a moment of brilliance, I popped every single cooldown I had, and even used every Enginering trick I had and managed to tank the boss and bring it down. The other lock died and it was me and one of the officers in our guild who was playing another Lock left alive.

He starts yelling over Vent calling me a brilliant rogue. "Way to go Mr. Epic Rogue Tank!"

He even paid my repair bills for the night and gave me some extra gold for the rest of the nights repairs.|||Quote:

As a fellow rogue, I support this messege!|||Wow, using evasion for the approximatly 3 seconds that it takes to beat down 60k hp.

Wow, using evasion for the approximatly 3 seconds that it takes to beat down 60k hp.

Sour much? Way to ruin someone's proud moment, Twoflower.

"Oh noes, he wasted Evasion!" Three minutes cooldown are over before you know it, that for a skill to survive against a boss that can kill you in one to three hits. You don't know whether they could down the boss in 3 secs. Sheesh, let the guy have his moment.|||I didnt say he wasted evasion ^^ He used it to good effect ! The boss was dead, after all.

I just dont think it is as special as to call it "epic" :) Many times have bosses been kept busy by fear ping pong or kiting or palas tanking in bubble for 10 sec or mages popping mirror images or pets from hunters or warlocks or army of undeath from DK's or rogues evasion tanking or druids switching to bear or one of the many other possibilities. Since it is a cata heroic and 3 DD's were still alive, I expect a group damage output of at least 20k dps and hence a relatively short rest of the fight.

It was a show of good situational awareness, and good use of evasion, but I think making Gorny "mister epic tank rogue" for that is a bit overdoing it. The guy who tanked all of the black temple in burning crusade, now that was a epic tank rogue ^^|||It was epic because the boss was hitting like a truck and would have steamrolled all three of us. It was one of those moments where you don't know if you're going to kill it before it kills you.|||I think it sounds like it was fun and it also sounds like an exciting moment. Way back when, rogues use to be able to evasion tank effectively to switch tanks of have a mail wearer step in or some such. However now, most rogues just get squashed when they try to evasion tank.|||Oh, and Snow it's not the beating down 60k in 3 or 6 seconds that's important, it was doing it without getting hit. One hit and I would have been facerolled.

Help!!!!

In 2009 i got World of Warcraft for Christmas and a few months later stopped paying for it. I want to go back to it but with the new battle net account system im not sure if its still there. In addition I used the same email for a few trial accounts and used them with battlenet, and i tried on another computer and it recognizes the trial but not the old account i had. I tried converting and it said there is already an account linked with the email. Do I have to use the same computer for my account? Is my old character gone forever? If not how can I get him back? I am completely stuck and could use some help. Its been a long story and i may have left something out, ill post in here if I remember. thanks in advance.|||If you have made an account in the past, everything should still be there and you can access it on every computer. It's just not immediately accessible if you don't pay. If you used your email address for trial accounts, it will probably link to those trials first.

Normally, the only thing you have to do is make a new payment for your current account and everything should be restored immediately. If you log in with your Battle.net account, I am fairly certain you should be able to link your old WoW account to your Battle.net. Then make a new payment and it should be in order.

If it all fails, contact Blizzard.|||Thanks for the help, Iv been in worried for a while and that helped a lot. Thanks again!

BoA Gear?

Okay, I am at 80, and thinking of creating a new toon, I would like some advice. What is the best Class to Use. (Keep in mind I want to Level fast)

Also what would be good for that Class.

Thanks, In advance.|||/Random answer.

Rogue Leather and daggers.|||/Random answer.

Hunter: leather/mail, bows and a beastie.

Or a Death Knight: plate, a good weapon and an attitude.

Seriously though, random questions draw random answers, I'm sorry. There is no "best class" and leveling has never been faster on any of them. Just pick what you like best, in the Newcomer Forum there's a sticky about what class to choose, there's a good rundown.

EDIT: Did you write the wrong thread title there?|||a dwarf with a hammer

/iwin

actually i can give something like a serious answer. I'm thinking that caster gear is going to tend to be better than what would otherwise be available at those levels...or at least that's the way it was in the old days. With the itemization being redone, there might not be a huge difference.

Happy new year, the murloc way...

Honor capped at level 76....what/where to buy?

Ok I just hit 4000 Honor on my Mage at level 76. I mainly play Bg's and in the past I could spend the old 75k honor on the PvP gems, just to make some gold. However as much as I search....I cannot find if the vendors exist. I have tried the obvious places in Orgrimmar/Tanaris. Also searched on teh interwebs but cant find anything apart from misleading nonsense to blatant trolling ;)

What worries me is I could always not bother with that and get my "Next tier level" ie; level 80 for my young Mage.....but it wont allow me to buy the gear saying im not level 80. I know I could always do that in the past.

I guess my main question(s) is/are - Am I stuck being honor capped until level 80? With nothing to spend it on? Seems such a waste.

I'm sure theres something but for all my trying, I cant find a decent answer. I hope you guys can help.

Many thanks if you can.|||You could spend it all on honor mounts if you like, go to the mount vendor in Org and but two of the honor mounts. Go up or fly over the ramp leading to the Gobby Slums area and then look for the war mount quartermaster outside the building right there.|||You can no longer buy rewards before you have the level they require. Same with PvE btw. Blizzard does not want you to have the entire set allready on the bank when you ding the appropriate level.

Same thing with points, they dont waht you to have the points you need to buy the entire set either.

So either you level up or you have to live with the fact that you wont gain anything from pvping ( well except the fun and the experience etc ) till you hit lvl 85.|||I believe the mounts do not have that restriction. So he might buy one and go down to 2k HP.|||Quote:

I believe the mounts do not have that restriction. So he might buy one and go down to 2k HP.

I just took a look in game on a level 43 character, and it did indeed look like she could pick up the PvP mounts. (I didn't actually have the honor to try, but there was no red text.)

They had a listed requirement of level 40 and riding 150.

So, it does look like the best use of honor at level 76 is going to be mounts.|||And an achievement too.|||Thanks for the replies guys! Much as I thought to be honest. I bought the shoulder enchant (yes yes I know I could probably get better) for the amazing price of 165hp and will probably spank 2k on a mount I dont really want....as I have lots of mounts on other characters. Alt alert!

.....but i'm glad I know this now. It was very difficult to find this info and what I found was still very vague.

As a side note - Frost Mage PvP is bloody awesome. I can haz Ice lance machine gun!|||Quote:

Bloody overpowered from what I read on the forums :)

Looks like Blizz will take us away some control. Probably shorten the time you are frozen in frost nova and that new ring of frost thingy. Or at least that's what they are discussing atm.

Not that I have done PvP since the release of burning crusade. Just repeating what I read on the forum.|||Quote:

They are indeed overpowered! Once I get that elusive Ice barrier glyph I will probably be unkillable. Only talking from low level 76 perspective, but they/we are so hard to beat. I can keep so many people controlled its laughable atm.

Problem at my level is some 78+ guys have Cata gear.....im definitely looking forward to some serious kicking ass when I get there :)

Damn Nelf Hunter earlier had 36k health unbuffed and at 76 I have 13k....pfft. Still annoyed the little bugger til help arrived and Ice blocked

Edit: Not played at 85 but I hear Mages are even more silly.

Edit 2: Happy New Year Flowers mate :)|||Well, it depends ^^ I am relay fighting for my DPS in instances. Cannot comment on PvP though ^^ But yes, if I fed on tears, I would be realy overeating atm.

Happy New Year all around :D \o/

/off to a party now, if the wife ever gets out of that shower grrrrr !

One death was enough...

"Narina arose to Life, or rather Undeath in the little crypt in Deathknell. Still fresh however was the memory of the agony of dying. The pain, the helplessness, the cold darkness of the Netherworld. Now, given a chance at a new, yet miserable existence, she swore that this death experience was nothing she cared to repeat again.

Narina pondered the choices that were laid in front of here. She eventually decided to be a Priest, and picking up the professions of a Herbalist and Alchemist. Yet, the hate that burned in her made her chose the path of shadowmagic as a focus of her spellcasting"

Okay, this is not exactly award winning backgroundstory telling, but here is the question:

How far do you think a character (UD Alchemist Shadowpriest) can be played without dying?

Little hint on my playstyle: Very careful (obviously), have experience with the game and the Undead class (see signature), solo mostly and will most likely NOT do any Instances.

The big unknown: Server disconnects, Undercity (or any other) elevator and disappearing Zeppelins or boats ar known to cause freak deaths.

Place your bets.|||Some Worg will eat you around level 9 or so ;)|||I give you to about lvl 7 when you have to take on the Agamand Family and have to get Nessa out of her house.|||Nice..two fast replies....

Let's keep it coming :D

Oh...should have said it is on a RP server, so no chance of a low level ganking Raid happening to me|||Hmmmm... will you be doing the Barren Quests if so I'll go with 24|||Yes, the progression will be like this: Deathknell, Brill, Trisfall Glades to Sepulcher. Around lv 12, 13: Barrens.

Return for some stuff like the Moonrage Shackles or Ambermill Investigation in the 15, 16. Around 18-20 I will pay a vist to Stonetalon and do some Evil Tauren killing and the Deepmoss Spiders.

No plans as of yet what will happen then. Maybe a bit Ashenvale?

Lv 24, eh? Thanks for this great extend of confidence. Neither my Warlock, nor my Shaman lasted that long, though I have to say that I killed my Shaman when drunk and my warlock was regularely a victim of "the evil onboard LAN". Since I have a new LAN card however, I don't get disconnected anymore (while my character is still getting attacked on the server ^^)|||9-11

Of course he wouldn't try to tackle that quest at level 7, now would he?

I give you to about level 9-10, det. Accidents happen, even if you exclude server disconnects and deaths due to buggy stuff.|||Well, I certainly wouldn't do the Family Crypt at lv 7..nor at 10. The Boss in the crypt is lv 13 or what? and you always pull an add or 2? I remember doing that with another couple of guys who hung out in that location when it was time for my warlock to do this.

Well...Narina is out and questing, I won't tell you yet how far she is coming/has come, but as for the accidents happening I can already say that when I need to flee because I have 2 mobs on me, PW:S is a lifesaver and I don't get stunned or slowed so far.

Damn, I noticed I should have made ths into a Poll. by the majority of replies I suspect folks are usually starting to die around lv 10. Though I see a lot of corpses lining the road to Brill.

I'm appalled by the attempts by blizzard to link a face to the toon. The real ID is another method of tracking in my opinion. Yes you have the option to not use the real life name attached to account feature but even so it seems weird that they keep moving in this direction. Either you have no games that can be upgraded with this key, or you have already upgraded them" ................. What is going on?, i cant play because it ask me to upgrade to Cataclysm and now i just went down and bought it and now i says that?. PLEASE HELP|||It can't be that you couldn't play because you hadn't upgraded to Cataclysm. Blizzard is not Microsoft, they don't use that kind of practice. The only thing that they do require is that you own the previous expansions when you try to install one. So you can't skip one. But apart from that, you are not required to have expansions to play WoW.

Which expansions do you own already and have you linked with your Battle.net account?

please help

im about to start playing wow again and im thinking of starting over and making a new account will i need an authentication key for a new account or can i use my authentication key off my game that i used for my first acount|||Why make a new account?

If you want to start over just pay for a new subscription, delete your old characters and create new ones.

You don't need another key.

It's a waste of your money to create a new account because you will have to buy WoW and all of it's expansions all over gain.

Just re-activate your subscription and go from there.|||On top of that, the authentication key is for the account, not for the game. The game client is actually free, what you paid for is the account (and its authentication key).

Is it too late to join?

Hi all,

I've been a gamer for 25 years, and played almost every popular title in those years.

For some reason, I didn't start with WOW when it came out, and since then it always seemed to me that I'm too late, and would never enjoy the game starting with such a gap from other players.

The new expansion pack got me thinking again, and maybe it's never too late.

Would do you say? Is it too late indeed?

BTW, do i need to purchase the original WOW plus the expansion pack?

thanks...|||Keep in mind that there are always other people starting new characters and other new players joining in as well. It's not like there's absolutely no one for you to play with should you start now. Well, unless you're looking at some specific friend of yours who's already way ahead.

The game can be played just off the classic version discs, but there are levels, areas and bonus races that you can't access without having all 3 expansions. So while the basic version can keep you interested a good while, the expansions are virtually a must for most serious players who want to reach the endgame levels that always have a little more people around.|||In WoW there's plenty of opportunity to catch up, and you'll have fun while doing so. You'll start out leveling a character to 85, for which you definitely want to take your time (perhaps 2-3 months, depending on how much you play). And when you are 85 there are a number of steps you go through to gear up. This will again take some time but there's no way you will get stuck at any point.

This will answer your other question:

Which game and expansions do I need: Read this first|||Actually this is a great time to start up again, since there are tons of people making new characters in the goblin/worgen zones and some new race-class combos that have come out recently.

...Ren|||IMO, it's never too late.|||This is the best time to start in the history of wow.|||I actually came face to face with Neptulon last night....|||OK, I'm sold..

Just a question, if I understand correctly, in order to enjoy everything I have to purchase WOW itself and the 3 expansion packs? Isn't there a combo deal on everything?|||Quote:

In order to play cataclysm, you must first purchase World of Warcraft + Burning Crusade + Wrath of the Lich King totaling $120 /w Catacylsm. Once you buy World of Warcraft, you'll get 30-Day of wow gametime. Other expansions don't come with wow gametime when you purchase them. So once your 30 days is up, you'll have to buy more wow gametime.|||If you want to be up to date with everything yes.

Not entirely correct. He does not have to get into Cataclysm's content and actually cannot do so levelwise until level 80. He will experience the new shattered version of the world no matter if he has classic or all of the expansions installed. However, if he wants to start a Goblin or Worgen or tinker with the new Arch. profession off the bat, then yes he will have to install Classic WoW and TB and WOTLK and finally CATA.

I don't think all of the cames will cost $120 either. Classic + TBC are $19.99 each and WOTLK might be also. There are also Battlechest type box sets that have Classic and TBC (and WOTLK now too?).

thunder clap prob

My thunder clap was working in wow after i change weapon it won't work for some reason i not sure why i hope someone can help.|||Hard to tell without more information. Thunder clap shouldn't depend on the weapon, so there is definately another factor. But one of my pet peeves when trying to solve problems, is when I only get "it doesn't work". "Doesn't work" can mean several things. What happens when you try it?

And are you sure you are not in Berserker stance or anything?|||Quote:

What you mean berserker stance and i forgot i use the naga wow addon.|||Berserker stance is a stance you get at level... 30? It was 30, I don't know if that changed now in Cataclysm, but I don't think so. So that is not the problem.

But, is it solved now by disabling that addon?|||Nope same prob.

afer i delate the wow addon.|||You say you are from Wisconsin. You should be able to express yourself more clearly in english.

Give us some information. Anything that could matter for the subject. Give us error messages, screenshots, anything. What happens when you klick the thunderclap icon ?

How should we be able to help you when the only information is "it does not work"? Do you think we are magicians ?|||Well i have a magic hat.

Random questions:

Are you on a toon other than a warrior?

If you are using a warrior:

Are you sure that you are not clicking another skill?

An other info you can provide?|||Just a warrior that it i am at 32 level now.|||Cmp, I'm starting to agree with Twoflower here. I am really not in the mood to play a guessing game. Up to now you have posted up to 3 replies in this thread, not even counting your original post, and you continue to fail to give us the information we are asking for.

What do you mean by "it won't work"? Is the button greyed out, or can you click it but nothing happens? Are you sure you are clicking it? Are you sure you are not in Berserker Stance (without knowing what it is)? Does it work when you use your hotkey? Is it a persistent problem or did you just try it once and then posted here? Are there any other addons installed? What weapons did you change, what were you wielding before and what are you wielding after?

Try to answer all of these questions instead of just one at a time. We are trying to help you, but that is extremely difficult when we are left in the dark. Without any information, we can't really guess what might be wrong. Maybe screenshots are indeed a good idea?

I do have one crazy idea: the icons of the stances are weapons, so maybe you thought changing stances is the same as changing weapons, and you changed to Berserker stance without knowing it. That's an example of something that could easily be fixed by looking at a screenshot.|||Well it on my my profile that all i get when i am playing with other people i just get them same 2 button that all it let me use.

I need Change

Good evening people from the forum,

I am Samia but you may call me Sam if you wish or even Blood Girl if you do not remember my real name either does not bother me a bit.

I am a former horde lover that played a Blood Elf mage for one month before Cat and reached level 72. In my realm the people are not nice at all anymore and the goblin make me want to cry since they are so little and ugly they make me think of Gnomes. I am looking for a new server to play on in US version since I am from Canada I am stuck to play with them.

If you have any question about my real life do not be shy to post it unless it is for a picture then you will never have what you ask for or even a meeting in real life this is a virtual life for me when I am bored so yeah.

(To simplify I need a new server and new friends)

What should I buy first?

I am nearly 85 ( I took my time) and I have 4k honor and 4k jp. Is there anything that is worth buying first? I am going to be pvping and pveing from this point forward and is there a benefit from buying my chest piece first or maybe head and gloves etc.

Just curious if there is a rhyme or reason to it.|||I think the hard cap is 4k for both, for jp, you should go to the vendor and buy whatever gear is useable for your class. It doesn't make much difference in my opinion what you buy first as long as it's useful, but you may want to start replacing whatever gear has he lowest ILvl so that you can get into Heroics.

What character are you talking aout?

Honor...you can't really get much besides mounts before 85.|||Quote:

DOH! forgot to take the lance off. I have a blue 91 agility dagger I got from a non-heroic 5 man.|||...You have Hyjal rep at Revered, you should go up there and see the quartermasterfor upgrades also. Start questing in Deepholme (if you have not yet) and do the stuff past revovering the forst two world pillar fragments and work on unlocking Therazane.

Also you seriously need to upgrade your gear. Go to Hyjal first and get the neck and chest items. Run some normal CATA instances and replace your daggers. Replace the shrapnel star also, there's a quest chain in Twilight Highlands that will get you Garona's Spare Star.

If you're not PvP'ing replace your items that have resilience on them with PvE suited items, as resil does noting for you in PvE combat.

Now that I looked at your gear, your epic Wrath stuff needs to go, like I said head to Hyjal first and get the neck and chest (and whatever else you can get reputation wise that's useful), then come and spend your JP's. I would replace for sure that dagger, and if the other is that low Ilvl wise, relace it too.

You really need to get all of your gear into the 333 Ilvl range.

The Cloak of Beasts off the AH is a good upgrade for your back as is The Cloak of Atesh from the quest in Vortex Pinnacle.

You should use Wow-heroes.com and audit yourself on there. It's a big help in fine tuning your gear and includes proper gem suggestions as well as enchants.|||Quote:

that's funny I never really thought about qm gear, probably because I replaced it so fast in wrath that it wasn't worth me buying it.

SO i guess it doesn't matter what I buy with my jp and honor first|||In CATA its more than viable until you are into heroics/Tier11 raids.

You should also reforge and add mastery where you don't have it.

Click my signature and look at my Rogue. See the difference in gear and HP?

You should go get the neck item I have for sure, and the same armor I have. It's a nice upgrade. See how all of my gear is reforged too?

Only difference is I do not have the amount of JP's that you do and have only bought one item.

Also suggest doing CoC for a new dagger.|||Quote:

Crucible of Carnage

Go my disciple.

I also suggest something better than Mongoose for yor enchants. Low end I would say +26 to agility on each for the double AP. Better than that for Rogue daggers would be Berserking if you don't have a set of Blue daggers that you are going to be keeping for a while.

Top three I suggest are: Landslide (both daggers..it's the CATA version of Berserking causing spurts of 1000 extra DPS) or Avalanche (it procs and extra 500 nature damage per hit quite often instead of occasionally.) or Hurricane which randomly increases haste by 450 for 12 sec.

Wow-heroes will suggest the best enchants per slot...and get a belt buckle!|||I wouldnt overdo it, to be honest ^^

No need to propose enchants that are 1000g a pop to somebody still not even at the level cap.

Personaly, I wouldnt gem/enchant anything under iLvl 333 ( cheap enchants and gems ), and only start realy reforging/enchanting/gemming at iLvl 346, which are items you get from reputation rewards at revered or higher and from the heroic dungeons.

As for justice points, no idea about rogues, but for mages the hat, shoulders and belt are best in slot items at iLvl 346. After I have these ( someday... ) I will buy the rest of the BoA lvl 80 items I have not collected yet.|||Not bad for one nights work ey?

Free to play WoW - a Possibility at some point

Article here: http://www.incgamers.com/News/23712/...ee-to-play-wow|||If Blizzard can maintain a subscriber base in the millions without getting rid of the monthly fee, why would they?

In the end it all comes down to greed.|||Basically, the way things are right now, Blizzard has no reason to make Wow free to play. Why would they? It makes zero sense to give away what millions of people are willing to keep paying for....|||As long as millions of people keep paying for the game on a monthly basis, this just won't happen. WoW will only go the 'free way' if subscriptions decline by a huge amount (say from 9 million to 1 million) and I don't see that happening any time soon.|||I don't see that happening before their second MMORPG is released.

Afterwards, however, all bets are off.|||as far as i'm concerned, the instant a game goes free, it inherently turns to crap, since the developers have less interest in keeping the actual content good and start on things like selling weapons and armor for real world money, not cool|||That would be cool but I hope they don't cut down on anything for this...|||I don't think it'll be free to play until the number of subs go down to under 500k, and that'll be years away. My first day of WoW

With a lot of free time on my hands, I yesterday decided to try out WoW - and thus playing it for my first time since the Open Beta way back.

So after downloading the 10-day trial version of the game, that's what I did...

First steps

After picking my realm (more bout that later) I created my character!

Well, I like buffing and healing others and have always enjoyed the various healer classes in other MMORPGs, so playing a priest was a rather obvious choice for me.

Preferring the alliance that left me with a couple of race choices, and I picked a night elf.

After going through some tutorial quests and learning the game it all seemed pretty nice - lots of quests guiding you through the world.

What surprised me a little: After a couple of hours of gameplay I was level 17. I recall my main char in the beta being 20'ish in the end, so this was some pretty fast leveling! The quests reflected this - most of them seemed to be marked as 'green' difficulty-wise.

And they indeed were pretty easy... expecting at least some challenge soloing as a priest, it was rather irritating to see me kicking bosses without any of them ever getting through my shield.

For now I'll assume this is due to my level. I read somewhere that it gets tough for priests to solo round level 25. Let's hope so =)

Am I late for the party?

When it came to picking a realm I didn't put lots of thought into it, and I'm beginning to regret it.

"Well, you don't like PvP and you probably shouldn't start on an RP realm knowing nothing about the game world. Furthermore you absolutely hated the crowded cities of Guild Wars, but you wanna meet people."

So a PvE one with a Medium population it was. I picked a random one - the good ol' "that name sounds kinda nice" principle.

Let's say, "Medium" seems to be a rather broad term. In my first couple hours I saw like 2 other players - considering it was a Sunday afternoon, that was hardly what I expected.

I'm not the hardcore leveling raiding player but a more casual one, so seeing no one to socialize / team up with was rather disappointing :(

I was expecting it to be more like the beta I faintly remember - not crowded, but a couple of people in every area.

(Granted, Stormwind was quite the exception with dozens of players at the auctioneer...)

Trial accounts and what they aren't allowed to do

As WoW was the first MMORPG I played a trial version of, I didn't put much thought into limitations of such accounts. Being used to trial versions of other software I assumed it to be a full version with an annoying reminder to buy the game ;D

Then again, I didn't bother at all when it told me "Trial accounts can't use that feature" when I tried to buy something at the auctioneer. Understandable - trial accounts could be abused somehow I figured if they were allowed to buy/sell stuff

When I tried to post a simple chat message (yes I finally managed to find another player! ;)) I was baffled.

"Trial account's can't use that feature."

Did I do something wrong? Was I accidentally trying to use some advanced chat feature or channel?

After checking all the buttons and options I was certain - I wasn't. Trial accounts don't seem to be allowed to post chat messages.

I'd assume quite a large percentage of users that base their purchase decision on the trial are planning to play it more casually.

Taking away chatting from them is quite the blow - not being able to chat somehow hampers the... you know... chatting experience xD

The last difference I've found so far was when I tried to post this on the official Blizzard forums. Turns out you're only allowed to do so when paying for the game ;D

Summary

After my first day of WoW the WoW trial, this is what I take from it:

- Restart on a server with a high population. A shame considering all the game time that has been wasted, but it's no fun with no one around

- Priests aren't really what I had expected. Quite good at fighting and only moderate buffing and healing skills. Their skills don't seem to be that interesting either - they all seem to break down to heal x or increase some stat by y.

- Decide soon whether you wanna play WoW or try out some other MMORPG soon. Not being able to chat sucks!

So yes, that's how I experienced my first day.

Remember, it's just an opinion. Feel free to disagree ;D|||welcome to the club :-)

about the chat thing ...

thank the countless gold spammers and the lame idiots who buy their stolen goods for that. They're the reason why you can't do that.

sad, but true|||A nice read, takes me back to my old days a little. I do disagree with the majority of your conclusions, though, pretty quickly drawn, I think. A couple of comments:

For starters, it isn't exactly correct in any game to compare a beta with a version that's been out for 6 years, let alone an MMORPG which changes a lot over that kind of time. One of the things that changed is that questing and leveling became a lot easier since the beginning days. Soloing any character is never really tough anymore, the challenges are more to be found in the multiplayer part of the game, the instances and dungeons.

Encountering two people in a few hours of playing is highly exceptional, but I suspect your choice of race has something to do with that, more than your choice of server in any case. Even though it's not so bad as before, Night elves are still quite secluded from the rest of Azeroth. Darnassus, their capital, is by far the lesser visited one (maybe Exodar is on par with that). If you visited Stormwind or Ironforge at 8 PM, you'll know what I mean.

And even if you were in a supposedly more crowded part of the world, one session of gameplay, even a few hours long, isn't exactly representative for the entire game. A population of high doesn't mean that you'll meet a lot of people, and a population of low doesn't mean the world will be next to empty. It's not that simple. There are things like factions (Horde/Alliance ratio isn't included in the population indicator) and playing times to consider. In my experience, most people play in the evenings and at early night. I have characters on a supposedly High population server and I have characters on a Low population server, but I enjoy questing a lot more on the High population one, since strangely enough I don't meet as many people there. And yes, I'm antisocial like that.

And about the trial accounts blocking chat messages... I am fairly sure you will be a lot more understanding when you are playing the game for a while. I personally shudder at the idea of gold sellers being able to use trial accounts to advertise their wares. Just like any other MMORPG, this game is plagued by RTM, real money trading. Gold is a big market and there are numerous gold sellers advertising their crap in the game. Blocking trial accounts from using chat features is a necessary evil in order to limit the amount of spam a bit.

So, nice first post for a newcomer, but you do seem quick to draw conclusions.

That said, welcome to the game and to the forums!|||priests get really cool skills later; you just start with the basics|||Thanks you three! :D

Fortunately I haven't seen any gold spammers yet, but I guess it makes sense that they'd spam far more with free accounts, as banning wouldn't be a problem.

I'd just wish that they'd limit the disabled chat functions to the global channels (like trading, guild recruitment and whatnot)

If folks are close enough that they can hear regular chatter, I suppose bots could just as well send a whisper to everyone around! xD

Oh, and you're quite right snowieken, my conclusions were pretty quick drawn - it was just my first impressions turned into statements ;D

A lot more people seemed to be around as well yesterday - it's at an imo quite enjoyable level to be honest!

Dunno if this is due to the areas I'm in now or it was just bad luck on Sunday (or good luck yesterday), but yeah :)

The auction house still seems a little ignored though - prices seem ridiculously high. Even those crafting materials also sold by NPCs are at like 15 times that price when bought in an auction.

And let's hope priest skills get more diverse indeed! ;D

With me now getting more and more talent choices, it at least seems my character is becoming far more interesting =)

So beware, I might stick around and thus you'll probably meet me ingame sooner or later! ;P|||The prices are sky-rocketing now because everyone is levelling professions right now. Either on there mains or on alts, and there are quite a lot around with the new races that are available now.

The Night Elf lands are indeed not quite as popular as the other zones. I'm not sure what level you are right now, but I'd advice you to go quest in Redridge Mountains (lvl 15 - 20) if you can. The zone is - imho - possibly the coolest low level zone right now.

Priest skills get more diverse and fun at higher levels. This is the case with all classes really.

Have fun and keep us updated :)

I'll agree with that. Just started playing sunday. Loved the "Spy" quests, and the tank of course XD
