*Sigh* WoW in Cata boring to other people too?

I was a little excited for Cata, and I got less excited with each expansion... I've played since WoW came out (Christmas 2004, so, close enough.) and I completely loved original WoW, I loved leveling alts through original WoW and then the world changed and I was like, AWESOME, the world's going to be different, I'll want to level alts moreso because it'll be a new world.

I leveled a Worgen to level 6 before stopping. The quests are fairly interesting, and I like the class itself. I've leveled every class to 78+, and I am finding WoW not very enjoyable now.

I even tried leveling through Cata content (80+) and it was pretty dull. I felt a little bit of a rush for awhile, but it just faded.

I understand I may be "outgrowing" WoW or whatever, but this expansion just seems a little... Let down-ish... I didn't expect it to be some "OMG, THE GAME'S SAVED" or anything, but I remember when my Rogue was the beez-knees and I couldn't wait to wake up after 6 hours of sleep at most just to hop on and PvP in Alterac or grind a little bit so I could afford to go to Molten Core... I understand I haven't raided in this expansion, and it's more like original WoW and everything... It just doesn't seem like the WoW I came into.

Even after I upgraded my computer to a great computer, I was like, well, it'll be a little better without chugging at 8-12 FPS in normal areas with a bunch of people around on lowest graphic settings... It didn't really feel much better, even with everything pristine and perfect looking.

I dunno, am I the only one a bit disappointed with WoW specifically in this and last (WotLK) expansions?|||It almost sounds like you are just bored with the game in general, and it might be time for a break.

There is a lot of cool stuff in Cataclysm, but it's really not enough to make it a feel like a brand new game if you were really tired of it before Cataclysm.

I know I'm still having no problems finding ways to entertain myself. One thing that has helped is remembering that it's a game, and not doing stuff in game if I don't feel like it. It can be hard to convince yourself sometimes that nothing terrible is going to happen if you don't do dailies for a few days, but once you do, it takes some of the grind factor out of the game.

Obviously, playing like that means I can't raid (since then you have a team counting on you to do certain things to keep your character raid ready) but once I stopped raiding I realized there was still a whole lot of stuff to do in game.|||Cata is more of the same, as every expansion so far. If you dont can/want to jump on the raiding or the pvp train, you will eventualy run out of things to do. Sounds like you bridget that gap usualy by leveling a new char, but there are only so many classes to level before you have played them all.

I am not bored wit WoW, but when I cannot raid, my play time goes down drasticaly.|||Cattleya: I have taken a break. I didn't play for a couple months, tried to get back into it for Cata, was like "Eh... Kinda fun." did some dungeons, noticed healing for a lot of people was way too hard and if the healer or tank couldn't handle it, it just couldn't be handled by them so you'd either have to boot them or attempt it 5 more times before everyone goes "Okay, back to questing." and it breaks. That really destroyed dungeons for me at that point, and I understand it'll get better, but a regular dungeon? Ugh...

I literally only do what I want to. If I am on my Priest and I'm like "Yeah, main spec is Disc, but this dungeon I feel like going Shadow, so I'm gonna do it." and it's still just... Meh. I enjoy raiding on and off, and obviously you can't do that as easily now-a-days because you need a dedicated "we own this raid now." team you can't really have mess ups with new guys or anything, which I understand.

Twoflower: Yeah, I just really don't enjoy PvP because I really enjoy melee characters and I know for a fact it's just far more difficult to play a melee class than a "Stand back and throw spells/shoot arrows" class and it just reduces the amount of wanting to PvP. Plus, my wife really doesn't enjoy me PvPing anyway, I get way too pissed off, lol. Usually worse than playing CoD or Bad Company 2.

Raiding is basically the same too, melee is generally more screwed than ranged, and I'd be fine with "everyone stay out of the fire" but when it's "stay out of the fire melee, also, there's a 360 AoE cleave, also at phase 2 he just does a constant pulse of AoE damage in 10 yards every second. Ranged? Stay out of some fire sometimes." it just is annoying that they're basically asking me to play a ranged class without asking.

Edit: Also, Cattleya, to extend on that, I took a break for a couple months, got back in for a month, was like, eh. Took another break for a month or so, tried a Worgen, got bored, got onto other characters, got bored, then just cancelled my account like a week later and haven't really had any form of urge to play since and it's been a few months.

Again, I got a new computer and got a few new games, but it just seems like Starcraft 2, Dawn of War 2, Black Ops and Bad Company 2 are just by far keeping my attention more and WoW is just there to possibly play. If it weren't for the fact that WoW's a monthly fee I'd probably play more, but when I go "My account's cancelled, I could play now, but that'll cost me 15 bucks for a few hours of fun then I'll get bored." it just makes me not want to play at all.|||There is nothing wrong with deciding it's time to move on. The worst thing you can do is keep playing a game you aren't enjoying.|||Yeah, I understand that, it's just I feel it might be specifically this and last expansion... They've just been too... Bland. Along with a lot of hype, even though I generally don't go along with it at all. I mean, I was thinking "Mount Hyjal? That sounds pretty good. Underwater questing? That sounds terrible." and then Mount Hyjal was terrible and Vashj'ir was meh. Even quests in other areas have been pretty meh... I really dislike Indiana Jones and there's basically a zone dedicated to it. It's just all around meh for me, and I can get past it it's just going to require 4.06 to bump up the dungeon playing so I can mix in some quests.|||Quote:

So, 2/3 of the expansions released and at this point 75% of existing content?

If you break down the content into:

Vanilla

BC

Wrath

Cataclysm

and consider that Vanilla has been mostly replaced in cata. It's no wonder you are feeling meh about the game. Cattleya is right, there is no shame in quitting.|||Dang it... lost my response somehow...

I've been having a blast with the new stuff... I really like the way the new quest systems work (and some of the questlines overall are just fun - "The Day Deathwing Came" in Badlands, the goblin starting area overall, and the Hillsbrad "questgiver" related quests have been a lot of fun...)

It's given me a chance to be more experimental in how and what I play... but it does sound like you've been at this a bit longer (and with more diversity than me). Heck, the only drawback thus far is that progression at lower levels almost seems too fast now - I'm generally already 5 or more levels too high for the next area, which frustrates me a bit. I mean, I like fast leveling, but... I'd prefer that the faster leveling was moreso with the BC content (since that didn't change) than with the new content.|||More than likely I'll quit soon enough... I mean, I'll try a few more times more than likely, and if it can't hold my interest more than a week or so again, I think I'll just give up and take it as a game I'm bored with.

Probably wait for the next patch to come out and try again then.|||i love cata as it gives me new content to level up in :D
