MMO Wars

[:1]MMORPGs are battlefield where everyone, other than WoW, dies. But, WoW has came out before ,for example, Allods Online. AO has recently came out of beta, while WoW has been patching and upgrading for 6 years. So instead comparing WoW (with all expansions) to AO, lets compare AO to WoW Vanila. I just say that Blizz will eventualy lose ideas for WoW expansions, while AO has a lot room for upgrades and new content. What this means? This means that no MMO, even WoW itself, is not immortal.

|||Is it just me or is your name containing "allods" combined with your post screaming advertisement ?|||Nah, wow is immortal as long as there's a player base.

There's always loads of ways to introduce new content.

Outland and Northrend haven't changed much with Cata so theres still scope to completely redo them.

Vashj'ir certainly has been left open for new ideas...

For myself as long as they introduce new content for the lower end and not just add higher and higher endgame updates I'll be happy.|||I think the problem is that for a huge percentage of MMORPG players WoW was the first game they picked up. So when they try other MMO's it feels sticky and uncomfortable because they ''grew up'' with the WoW. That combined with the huge level of polish WoW has along with the hundreds of man hours required to make an MMO puts Blizz on a very comfy throne.

I think the key is for companies to step away from RPGs and look into MMOFPS, or MMOBrawlers, games that would take years to make or require a monthly subscription.
